Simon Jordan shares what Josh Windass just said about Rangers and Danny Rohl
Simon Jordan has been speaking to Josh Windass about his future and what's going on with Rangers and Danny Rohl.
The headlines in Scottish football have been dominated by the news that Rohl is set to leave and join Austrian side RB Salzburg in a shock twist.
The Gers are said to have agreed a deal with Salzburg over Rohl, and are now set to pocket around £2million in compensation for his exit.
Now, the Bears plan to appoint Hearts boss Derek McInnes in another swoop from Tynecastle Park.
The Light Blues had already stolen the Jambos' skipper in Lawrence Shankland before the transfer window even opened, as plans are in place for further deals to happen in Glasgow.
Amid a push to appoint McInnes, it will be interesting to see if Rangers have true interest in re-signing Windass.
Simon Jordan shares Josh Windass chat amid Rangers speculation
Windass had been linked with a shock return to Rangers earlier in the year, but there has been no indication that they will pursue a move for the Wrexham star.
The Englishman left Ibrox back in 2018, and despite his clear quality, he was always a divisive figure due to his personality.
Windass is currently under contract at the Racecourse Ground until 2028, and after scoring 16 goals in the Championship last season, he still has lots to offer.
Speaking on talkSPORT this week, Jordan shared his conversation with the 32-year-old, amid speculation of a move to Rangers, with Rohl's exit nearing.
Jordan said: "I think he [Rohl] would have been one for the future. It's interesting because I was speaking with [Josh] Windass on the plane. I think there might have been potentially a perception of him considering going back to Rangers.
"I won't talk on behalf of Josh because of his contract at Wrexham, but the fact is that there was not this clear blue sky of Rohl leaving Rangers."
Considering the loose links of him coming back to Rangers, and reuniting with his former Sheffield Wednesday boss, Jordan's comments are interesting.
Would Rangers still sign Windass if Derek McInnes joins?
Based on Jordan's comments, it seems there was a possibility of Windass coming back to Rangers, so long as Rohl was there.
Now that the German head coach is all but out the door, that potential deal could be off the cards.
However, if it's something that Rangers have been planning for a while, then the arrival of McInnes may not deter those transfer ambitions.
Nothing is sealed yet for Rohl's exit and McInnes' appointment, though it does look like a matter of when, not if.
