Sheffield United respond as Rangers submit offer to sign Ryan One in light of Youssef Chermiti injury
The 20-year-old has been on the Gers' agenda for a while and they have now formalised their interest.
Derek McInnes may well have been satisfied with his options at striker with Lawrence Shankland, Bojan Miovski, Ryan Naderi and Youssef Chermiti.
However, the latter is now ruled out for a long period with an ACL injury, so they may decide to enter the market.
It seems like they are trying to accelerate their pursuit of One, who is regarded as one of Scotland's brightest talents.
However, Sheffield United's response to the offer is telling.

Rangers now need a new striker, after Chermiti was stretchered off against Hibernian.
Sky Sports Italy journalist Luca Bendoni claimed on Tuesday that the Bears had made contact with the Blades over the forward, holding initial talks after Chermiti's injury.
TalkSPORT reporter Ben Jacobs added that McInnes' side had a loan with an option to buy offer rejected by the Championship club just a few minutes later.
The latter states that talks are ongoing between the EFL side and the Auchenhowie outfit.
That suggests that the approach was not dismissed out on hand, and something could be worked out.
Why do Rangers want One as their new striker?
Michael Skubala's view on the striker provides insight into why the Scottish Premiership side are keen.
The former Lincoln City manager coached him after he signed for the Sincil Bank side in January 2026 on loan.
He was glowing in his reference for the young striker, saying: "You only have to look at Ryan One today. He took that goal and that’s not easy.
“Running from your halfway line with all that time is not an easy finish. People think that’s easy because he’s in with the keeper, but I think he’s a sensational talent. When he came in, he worked hard.”
That kind of work rate and finishing ability is exactly why he is wanted in G51.
He notched five goals in 16 appearances in his spell with the Imps, and if he could recreate that form in Govan, it would be a worthwhile investment.
They need a forward who can stay composed and deal with the pressure of playing for the hostile Ibrox crowd, and One could be that man.
Whether the move materialises remains to be seen, but it is encouraging that they are planning to bring someone in, and not just sitting idle.
