Ross McCausland waits on Rangers decision after loan return
Ross McCausland is yet to learn of his future at Rangers, Ibrox News understands.
The 23-year-old spent last season out on loan after joining Cypriot outfit Aris Limassol in the summer.
He went on to feature 22 times and score four goals in the Cyprus League as his side finished sixth.
The Northern Ireland international has now made his return to Govan as pre-season begun for a number of players at Auchenhowie .
Derek McInnes is now taking a look at his new squad after coming in as manager earlier this summer.
The Scot will now cast an eye over McCausland, but is yet to make a decision over his future.
Why Rangers are taking their time over Ross McCausland's future
There was once an expectation that the academy ace would become a true first-team star in G51.
Things certainly started well for the number 45 as he became a regular in the 2023/24 campaign.
He contributed to nine goals in all competitions in that season, but has struggled to follow that up.
That prompted his loan move to Aris Limassol last summer, but it may not be the end of his Rangers journey.
Welcoming him back to training will give McInnes a chance to assess him ahead of his first season in charge of the Ibrox club.
That is necessary as new wide options may be needed after loan deals for both Mikey Moore and Andreas Skov Olsen came to an end.
The Light Blues are wise to be taking their time as McCausland could be ready for a pre-season opportunity.
McCausland may have a route back into the first-team picture at Ibrox
The Northern Irishman has a point to prove for the Light Blues and could get his chance over the summer.
Plans haven't been totally finalised for pre-season as a 16 July friendly against West Ham in Govan is the only confirmed outing infront of fans.
McInnes has also revealed that his side will play multiple behind-closed-doors games.
There are also other options being looked at, while a trip to Austria remains up in the air.
Any of these potential outings have to be taken seriously by McCausland as he looks to play for his future in G51.
There looks set to be plenty of pre-season games for him to sink his teeth into, especially while a decision is yet to be made this summer.
