Ross McCausland could finally secure a permanent exit away from Rangers this summer.

The winger was sent out on loan to Cypriot side Aris Limassol for the 2025-2026 season, and while there was an option to buy, that has not been activated due to McCausland's own request.

McCausland is now set to return to Ibrox, where Danny Rohl could get his first in-person look at the winger

However, the Rangers loanee could already have secured a move out of Glasgow before the possibility comes to the fore.

Ahead of the window, McCausland has plenty of suitors chasing him, including a side set to feature in the Champions League next season

If that is the case, the Gers would welcome some additional funds in order to strengthen themselves.

Who is looking at Rangers winger Ross McCausland?

McCausland could find himself kitted out for a Champions League club with FC Thun, who won the Swiss Super League now looking his direction.

According to the Daily Record, the Swiss side "have expressed a strong interest".

Thun will have to go through the Champions League qualifiers in order to reach the League Phase, and they seemingly want to do so with the help of McCausland.

The 23-year-old also has options in the MLS as well as throughout Europe, according to the same report.

Northern Irishman McCausland, however, has previously expressed a desire to come and fight for a place in Rohl

So, it will remain to be seen if he even entertains any potential approach in the coming weeks before getting that chance.

McCausland still has time on his side

McCausland broke through at Rangers as an exciting talent and Northern Irish manager Michael O'Neill has previously echoed those same sentiments.

Speaking in 2023, the international boss stated: "He’s an exciting young player. He just has to continue in the vein of form that he’s in."

At 23 years old, there is still time for McCausland to turn things around and become the talent once expected of him.

However, he may be best doing so in a less pressured environment. Next season, Rangers are expected to challenge for the Scottish Premiership, and the winger may not be positioned to aid those goals.

But pre-season could certainly be his chance to prove the doubters wrong, especially if he decides to delay accepting any incoming offers for his services.

The early signs of McCausland in the Gers strip have certainly shown that there is a player there. It is up to him to show he can still be that.
