Rangers still want to offload Scott Wright before the end of the transfer window but interest from the Championship has yet to be "cemented", Joshua Barrie has said.

Writing for the Rangers Review (21 August), journalist Barrie confirmed the Gers are still looking to sort a move for the 27-year-old who has started three games in all competitions this term

Wright has been touted out to potential suitors [Rangers Review, 20 August] as Philippe Clement looks to raise funds to reinvest in the squad, and in the process clear out those not in his plans.

However, no advancement has been made on any possible interest in Wright with a little over a week of the transfer window remaining.

Barrie said: "The club is attempting to offload Scott Wright but interest from the player in the English Championship is yet to be cemented."

Rangers attempt to offload stars

Rangers are now in a race against time in their mission to offload certain senior players before they can finish off their summer rebuild of recruitment.

Wright - alongside Ianis Hagi and Todd Cantwell - still remain in Glasgow despite being excluded from Clement's plans, all for slightly different reasons and scenarios.

The 27-year-old has not set the world alight since arriving from Aberdeen in 2021, and now has just a season remaining on his contract at Ibrox.

The Light Blues initially hoped to receive a fee in the region of £1.5m-2m for Wright, although this is being viewed as more and more speculative as the days go by.

Having been credited with an interest from Sheffield Wednesday and Plymouth Argyle of the Championship in England [David Edgar, 24 July], Clement and his backroom staff may be hoping the fact both clubs have already suffered a heavy league defeat this season means they could feel the need to slap in a serious bid for their man in limbo.
