Philippe Clement "ideally" wants to make two additions to his Rangers squad before the winter transfer deadline, according to the Scottish Daily Mail.

The newspaper reports in its print edition (3 February, page 59) that Clement has identified potential targets for Nils Koppen and Patrick Stewart to pursue at Ibrox, having only signed Rafael Fernandes.

Clement has admitted that any additions are "out of his hands" ahead of Monday's 11 pm deadline, but the Belgian is still hopeful he'll have a strengthened squad at his disposal come the end of the window.

The Light Blues' interest in a pre-contract offer for Dundee talisman Lyall Cameron remains strong, but they could yet pursue an earlier deal, and RB Salzburg midfielder Bobby Clark is also on the Gers' radar.

Rangers leaving it late ahead of Deadline Day transfers

For all that Clement is hopeful the Bears can bring in one or two additions ahead of the transfer deadline, they've certainly left it late in the window to pursue midfielders of Cameron and Clark's quality.

The Gers' priority this winter was undoubtedly to find central defensive cover in the wake of injuries to John Souttar and Feyenoord loanee Neraysho Kasanwirjo, with the latter unlikely to play for them again.

Fernandes' signing has proven to be supplementary, with the Lille loanee only making his debut against Ross County on Sunday – the same game in which Souttar made a scoring return to the team.

Clement's side are arguably still short in midfield though, and the addition of either Cameron or Clark would surely see them come straight into the starting XI as we approach the business end of the season.

The Gers have likely left it too late to seal a deal for Clark, who only signed for Salzburg last summer, but with Monday being Dundee's last chance to collect a fee for Cameron, there may still be time for an Ibrox approach which the Dees can't turn down.
