Rangers are ready to begin building under new boss Derek McInnes.

The former Gers midfielder was confirmed as manager this week, replacing the outgoing Danny Rohl.

Rohl joined the Govan club last October, calming Ibrox down after a dismal start to the season under Russell Martin.

This would not be enough in the grand scheme of things, with Rangers being blown out of title contention in the final weeks.

Nonetheless, the German had earned the support of the hierarchy, before his shock move to RB Salzburg.

With McInnes quickly in as his replacement, the Bears are set to get to work ahead of what will hopefully be a more prosperous term.

Derek McInnes transfer plan to match long-standing Rangers vision

McInnes arrives at Ibrox having taken Hearts within touching distance of winning the title last term.

Now, he joins up with Lawrence Shankland, who made the move from Tynecastle earlier this month.

As of now, Shankland is the only confirmed signing, but as per the Rangers Review, the club understand what a huge summer this is.

It is said that plans will not differentiate too much from those under Rohl, with the same targets remaining and being worked on right now.

The shift towards a Scottish and British core will also be upheld, with this decision made long before the appointment of McInnes.

After a move from Aberdeen fell through nine years ago, McInnes is finally set to get to work at Ibrox, with Rangers now in a strong position after their swift action following the news surrounding Rohl.

What can Rangers fans expect from McInnes in coming weeks?

After a holiday in the USA, McInnes is back in Glasgow, where he has been getting up to speed with judging where Rangers currently are.

The return to training was originally scheduled for Monday, however this has been pushed back to Thursday given the recent circumstances.

Throughout his managerial career, the new boss has proven adaptable with his approach, while his understanding of Scottish football will be a huge asset at Ibrox.

In the coming weeks, it will be crucial for him to assess the current squad, while the recruitment work is being done around him - following the aforementioned principles.

The exit of Rohl was obviously disappointing, but Rangers could well be in a better position as a result, with the experienced and knowledgeable McInnes stepping in.
