Rangers have Elijah Just on their list of transfer targets, and should they want to truly bring him to Ibrox, the time to act is now.

The Bears have gone through some changes recently, as Danny Rohl's departure made way for the appointment of Derek McInnes.

The ex-Hearts boss will work closely with the 49ers to ensure that the Gers get the needed additions through the door ahead of a title-chasing season.

Motherwell's Just has been identified as one target that the Light Blues could pursue after he had a standout season, earning a spot in the Scottish Premiership's Team of the Year squad.

The right-winger is currently participating in the World Cup with New Zealand and got off to a flyer, scoring a brace for his country in their opening game, in a 2-2 draw against Iran.

However, Rangers need to act swiftly if they are to have any chance of bringing Just to Ibrox.

Elijah Just's performances at World Cup may multiply asking price by the day

Just only signed for Motherwell last summer, but was a significant cog to Jens Berthel Askou's system at Fir Park.

However, given the Steelmen have already lost their manager, an exit for their star man cannot be ruled out of the equation.

Just has interest from Rangers, Celtic and other teams in Europe, and his performance at the World Cup is only good news for Motherwell chiefs.

He is performing on the highest stage of them all, which will drive his price tag up in any possible negotiations.

After New Zealand's strong start at the World Cup, it would be no surprise if Just helped his nation progress to the knockout stages.

If he does, he will no doubt have had a huge say on their success, and Rangers must throw an offer at Motherwell as soon as possible, before they have full control and can scare teams away.

Who would Just replace at Rangers?

It's fair to say that Rangers will miss the boat if they are priced out of a deal for Just by Motherwell.

Though the Steelmen have less weight in transfer talks due to their size, the Gers have multiple areas to target this summer, and won't splash money willy-nilly.

If McInnes were able to add Just to his ranks, he would almost certainly compete with Djeidi Gassama for a spot on the right flank.

You'd have to favour the Motherwell star over the Frenchman, though pre-season may bring a few surprises under a new manager.

If Just does arrive, though, it would only spell bad news for Gassama.
