Rangers set for Bryan Reynolds decision after £3.3m transfer twist - View
Rangers had been given the green light to sign full-back Bryan Reynolds, but were unable to agree a fee with Westerlo earlier in June.
The Light Blues made it their mission to sign a replacement for James Tavernier this summer, and Reynolds became a clear target for them.
With Derek McInnes now at the helm, it's said that initial transfer targets won't change too much, as the Bears look to add several players this summer.
Reynolds was one of them, but the Gers were knocked back after offering Westerlo £2.2m for the USA international.
The versatile defender can offer McInnes cover on either side of defence, though it remains to be seen if the Bears will make another attempt to sign him.
With Rangers closing in on the signing of Ross McCrorie from Bristol City, they'll have to make a decision on Reynolds.
It wasn't known if the Bears were keen on upping their attempts for the player, who had already given a signal he wanted to come to Ibrox.
Now, Rangers have agreed to sign McCrorie as their new right-back, who is set to battle with Dujon Sterling for the position.
This casts doubt on a potential move to once again try and land Reynolds, though the fact he offers cover in other areas presents the Gers with another chance.
Rangers would now have to step in if they wanted to sign him, though, as Stade Rennais have offered Westerlo £3.3m for his signature, according to Tavolieri.
The French side are said to be pushing to wrap up a deal, as it's likely that the Bears will be alerted of this, making them have one final decision before anything is agreed.
Reynolds' stats compared to Ross McCrorie's
While it appears unlikely that Rangers will decide to make another move to try to sign Reynolds, it's not impossible yet.
Nothing is finalised for McCrorie, as the Bears will be well aware of previous last-minute transfer fallthroughs.
When comparing the two and their league stats from their respective seasons last campaign, it makes for interesting reading.
Reynolds boasted 13 more successful passes per game on average, while McCrorie excelled with more tackles per 90 and seven more goal contributions.
Let's hope Rangers make the right call.
