Rangers ready 'serious attempt' to sign PSV's Couhaib Driouech as financial details emerge

Rangers could finally be about to end their transfer pursuit for a winger.

After losing Mikey Moore and Oliver Antman this summer, Rangers are in major need to bolster their attacking ranks down the flanks.

Fares Ghedjemis has been a player strongly linked with a move to Ibrox in recent days, but there is strong competition for his signature, namely from Celtic.

It's been widely reported that Rangers have seen an £8million bid for Ghedjemis rejected by Frosinone, and now Derek McInnes may have to look to alternative options.

Gers are big and confident shoppers in the European markets, and they may now be switching from Italian to Dutch football to find their new flying winger.

That's because reports emerging on Wednesday have linked them to a proven Eredivisie performer.

How much Rangers may need to pay for Couhaib Driouech

A report from Dutch news outlet Soccernews has claimed that Rangers and RB Salzburg are both keen on moves for PSV winger Couhaib Driouech.

It's claimed that both those clubs are expected to lodge official approaches for the 24-year-old imminently, with the player said to be open to a fresh start in his career.

The report also claims that Driouech is valued at around £6m by PSV, and that Rangers and RB Salzburg have both been left "very impressed" by the Moroccan.

Driouech is also contracted with PSV until mid-2029, so the Dutch side are in a strong position to hold out for a premium fee from Rangers.

But what kind of player is the Moroccan, and do his Eredivisie numbers suggest he'd be a major hit in Govan?

Where Driouech was amongst Eredivisie's best in 2025-26

Having joined PSV from Excelsior in the summer of 2024, Driouech has spent his entire career in the Netherlands.

In fact, despite representing Morocco at youth international level, he was actually born in Haarlem, which is a city in the Netherlands.

The Soccernews reporter who broke this aforementioned story detailing Rangers' interest, Mounir Boualin, described Driouech as a "speedy forward" via X.

He played 29 times in Eredivisie last season, but only five those were starts, from which he scored four goals and provided six assists.

As per FotMob, he ranked in the top 5.2 percentile of all Eredivisie left wingers in 2025-26 for his 3.52 shots on goal per 90 minutes average.

Meanwhile, he also placed in the leading 3.5 per cent for his 0.57 assists per 90, as well as ranking in the top 5.2 percentile again for creating 0.67 big chances per game.

Driouech was also amongst the best in his position on a per game basis for his 6.66 touches in the opposition box, 4.95 recoveries and 57.6 touches, so he's evidently a player who works hard and looks to impact the game in all areas.

Therefore, he could be a player that Rangers fans don't have a hard time falling in love with, and would add some much-needed pace and energy to McInnes' wings.
