Rangers make official bid to sign Hugo Siquet as Andrew Cavenagh wastes no time on promise
Andrew Cavenagh has promised several new transfers at Rangers to take their business into double figures.
Couhaib Driouech is due in Glasgow for his medical on Tuesday, with the Bears agreeing a £7million fee with PSV.
And that isn't halting business elsewhere.
Rangers want Club Brugge defender Hugo Siquet, too, and they have made their move formal for the Belgian.
Ross McCrorie has already signed as a new right-back, but he hasn't had the desired affect, as of yet.
Dujon Sterling can also play there, but Derek McInnes clearly isn't happy with those two alone.
Rangers make their move for Hugo Siquet
Siquet is a name that not many, if anyone, at Ibrox would have heard of before this week.
Now, he looks likely to become their new right-back.
Foot Mercato has now reported on Tuesday that Rangers have made an official bid to sign Siquet.
Described as a "key player" in Brugges starting side, the French outlet states that interest is growing across Europe.
And with that, Rangers are first at the table.
How much would Hugo Siquet cost Rangers?
It would likely be nowhere near what Driouech is costing, but it won't be cheap for Cavenagh and the 49ers.
Rangers would need to spend seven figures, but that would be no issue under this ownership.
It's been confirmed that the Bears don't need to sell players in order to bring further faces in, so that helps.
Despite that, Mohamed Diomande is moving on for £4.5m, which is handy when several new signings are still wanted.
Money is never unlimited in football, so it's good to see business happening both ways at Ibrox.
Sterling can also cover at left-back behind Tuur Rommens if needed, so Siquet signing could solve that issue as well.
Then, it's down to other areas in the squad after Driouech, too.
Another central defender and more in the final third is likely wanted, as Rangers attempt to recover what has been another dreadful start.
McInnes isn't asking for patience, but he knows he will have to deliver as these transfers continue to arrive for him.
