Rangers have three transfer priorities lined up after Daisuke Yokota

Rangers are closing in on their next signing with Hannover 96 winger Daisuke Yokota.

Yokota is due for his medical at Ibrox on Tuesday, with a £3.4million deal already agreed, including add-ons.

Derek McInnes has made his feelings clear on his attacking options at Auchenhowie, with serious depth issues.

Thelo Aasgaard shined out of position in the 1-1 draw with Dundee United to open the Scottish Premiership season.

But, Djedi Gassama failed to impress, with Findlay Curtis only getting limited minutes off the bench.

Yokota is set to help as he arrives in Glasgow, but McInnes and Rangers are far from done there.

What is next for Rangers?

Yokota will immediately tick one massive box at Ibrox.

A left-footed right winger who is capable of beating his man down the line, as well as cutting inside to create chances, and finish them off himself.

Now, Chris Jack has shared that he will be far from the final new face through the door, with one month to go in the window.

Writing for the Rangers Review, the journalist shared that Rangers will now target another winger, as well as a left-back and another central defender.

Camilo Mena of Lechia Gdansk is named as a target, with Ben Godfrey's injury increasing the need for new defenders.

Daisuke Yokota already outperforms Rangers stars

If there's one thing that McInnes won't stand for, it's players who don't put the team before themselves.

That certainly isn't the case with Yokota, who already outperforms those currently at Ibrox in two massively key areas.

While at Hannover 96, the Japanese star covered over 11km per 90 minutes, as well as completing 68 ball recoveries.

Four Lads Had a Dream shared those stats on X, with no Rangers player covering more than 10.2km on average last season.

On top of that, Yokota recovered 24 more balls than Aasgaard across the season, who was best at Ibrox amongst attackers.

Of course, Rangers have more of the ball against the majority of the Scottish Premiership, but it's great to see that they'll have someone who is willing to run that extra mile to keep it longer.

Yokota will be judged off his attacking output at Ibrox, that's just how it is, but attitude always comes first.

And it appears that he's ticking a lot of boxes for McInnes already, before even stepping foot on the pitch.
