Rangers have clear contract priority after Findlay Curtis proved worth vs Kaizer Chiefs
Rangers are yet to tie Findlay Curtis down to a new deal despite their attempts.
The Bears have already offered the winger a new contract this year, but nothing has yet to be agreed.
The 20-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan with Kilmarnock and showed his promise when given a chance.
Curtis did so well that Steve Clarke called him up to Scotland's World Cup squad, where he made his tournament debut on the grandest stage of them all.
He had a successful pre-season this time last year and will be hoping to send a statement to Derek McInnes.
Curtis has gotten off on the right foot, scoring in Rangers' pre-season friendly against Kaizer Chiefs, which brings up his contract situation once more.
The Findlay Curtis clarity Rangers should seek before season starts
According to the Rangers Review on 27 May, Rangers have already offered Curtis a new contract.
It was said that talks were ongoing, though no agreement has been reached weeks later.
Curtis last penned terms with the Gers in January of 2025, and since he's only tripled his stock.
It's clear that the forward will want to be guaranteed a chance at Ibrox this season, and if he can't get that, he may want another move.
That's not to say he will ask for a permanent departure, though he will want to feel some level of assurance from McInnes.
It's not known when the Scotland international's deal expires, though there has been some suggestions that it runs out next year.
Curtis scored in Rangers' 1-1 behind-closed-doors match against Kaizer Chiefs on Sunday, proving once more that they can't lose him.
The Bears need to have a proper sit-down with him and get clarity on his future before the season starts.
Who could be Rangers casualty for Curtis' breakthrough?
Curtis will have to force his way into McInnes' plans, but has started off the right way this pre-season.
The youngster will be hoping that the momentum he's created recently can follow him to Ibrox for the new season, and if so, there's no doubt he should be part of the first team
However, there are already multiple wingers at the club who would also need to leave in order for Curtis to get the minutes he needs
Djeidi Gassama didn't start in the friendly against Kaizer Chiefs, as Danny Rohl's exit could pose a threat to his future in Glasgow.
Nedim Bajrami will also be given a chance this pre-season, though many Gers fans would most likely favour giving Curtis a chance at this point.
Either way, Rangers need to tie down a huge part of their future.
