Rangers get Bryan Reynolds green light for transfer as bid formally lodged
Rangers have lodged a formal bid to sign Bryan Reynolds from Westerlo.
The Light Blues are in the market for a new right-back as they wave goodbye to James Tavernier.
After 11 years, the skipper has decided to move on and will leave a gap in the squad at Ibrox.
That has opened the door for Danny Rohl and Co. to assess new targets with the USA international emerging at the top of the pile.
The 24-year-old is currently operating in the Belgian Pro League, having previously featured for Roma.
Reynolds could soon be on his way to link up with the Gers as a summer deal takes a step closer to completion.
Rangers get instant response as Bryan Reynolds bid lodged
The Govan outfit are said to hold concrete interest in the defender with days remaining until the window opens.
Contact has been made with Westerlo to try and get a deal done as the full-back heads into the final year of his current contract.
The Belgians are said to be open to letting the seven-cap United States international go, but aren't prepared to be rolled over just yet.
Sacha Tavolieri reported on Wednesday that Rangers have submitted a £2.1million offer for Reynolds, which has since been rejected.
Westerlo are unwilling to let the ex-FC Dallas man go for that figure at this stage.
The Light Blues have still been given the green light over a potential move by the defender himself should other sides enter the race for his signature.
Rangers already close to meeting Westerlo demands for Reynolds
The Pro League side aren't willing to be taken advantage of, even with the American in the last 12 months of his deal.
That certainly opens the door for a cut-price fee, but there is still a price being demanded.
Prior reports suggest that "a few million [Euros]" would be enough - something which the Gers aren't far away from offering.
At £2.1m, the Ibrox club could be just £900,000 from making a deal possible as £3m could do it.
It makes sense to get a move over the line for Reynolds as soon as possible as replacing Tavernier needs to be a priority.
