Rangers: Derek Ferguson makes honest admission on Lewis Ferguson future
Rangers may have been part of recent conversations between Derek Ferguson and Lewis Ferguson.
The Gers have been heavily linked with a move for the Scotland international, whose father played for the club during the 1980s.
This summer, the midfielder's time in Bologna could be coming to an end and the Light Blues have been suggested as one of his possible destinations.
Lewis may have a chance to put on the shirt his father once wore at Ibrox, but Derek is being coy about it.
The former Aberdeen star has a strong connection to the Glaswegian outfit, with Barry Ferguson his uncle.
Derek McInnes was also the 26-year-old midfielder's previous manager and got the best out of him at Pittodrie before he got the big move to Italy.
Will Lewis Ferguson move to Rangers this summer?
Derek seems to have spoken with Lewis about the prospect of moving to the Gers, but has opted to keep things private.
The midfielder's father has admitted that while he doesn't advise him as much, he still gives him an opinion about things.
Lewis' move to Ibrox could cost around £17million and it remains to be seen whether the Light Blues will be able to afford him.
While fans in G51 can hope Derek and Barry can push the Scottish superstar to join the Govan side, only time will tell whether that happens.
Speaking on Open Goal on 8 July, Derek said, "I don't advise him anymore. He's clever enough, mature enough. I'm just there to support him. But I'm there to give him my wee tuppence worth. Of course I will if I see things I don't like."
When asked about the possibility of Lewis' move to the Gers, he said, "That's the one thing [I'm keeping private]. Sometimes you have to keep things within the four walls. So I'm going to do that."
Derek McInnes could be difference-maker in Lewis Ferguson deal
Lewis' career at Bologna has stagnated in recent months after coming back from a long-term injury.
The midfielder is now looking to kick-start his career elsewhere and showed at the 2026 World Cup that he still has a lot to offer.
While there are plenty of top teams out there in the race for the Scottish ace, McInnes has a proven record of bringing out the best in him.
The former Hearts boss may be pivotal to Lewis' final decision on his future, and just a few consistent years at Ibrox could put him back on the radar of world-class teams in England or Spain.
