Rangers look set to confirm the arrival of Portland Timbers striker Kevin Kelsy.

The Venezuela international has been linked with a move to the Gers for weeks now and it looks like it's finally close to being announced.

With Youssef Chermiti out injured for a considerable period, Derek McInnes could soon have a new striker at the Light Blues.

Kelsy will move to Ibrox on a permanent deal from Portland.

The 22-year-old has caught a lot of people's attention in the MLS and he will now be looking to make his name in Scottish football.

Latest Rangers transfer update on Kevin Kelsy

Visa issues have delayed Kelsy's arrival at Rangers, but that seems to have been resolved.

According to The Athletic's Tom Bogert on 2 September, the "deal is done" and the Gers have completed the signing of the Venezuelan striker.

The Light Blues will pay an initial £9.6million for Kelsy and there will also be additional add-ons.

There may be further payments in the future that the Glaswegian outfit may have to make to the Timbers, with a sell-on clause included in the deal.

What Kevin Kelsy signing means for Ibrox attackers

While many expected McInnes to play with two number nines in his starting lineup, he has changed his plans at Rangers.

After a poor start to the season, the Scottish manager has decided to go with a 4-2-3-1 formation at the Gers.

Findlay Curtis, Minsu Kim and Djeidi Gassama have been the three attackers playing behind Lawrence Shankland in recent matches.

As a result, there could be a heated competition for the number nine spot at the Light Blues this season between the ex-Hearts captain, Ryan Naderi and Kelsy.

Once Chermiti returns, he may also have a say in the matter.

Overall, the Glaswegian outfit now have some interesting attacking options and it remains to be seen how McInnes uses them.
