Rangers and Celtic will likely be keeping tabs on the progress of Sassuolo defender Josh Doig in the summer, according to Football Scotland.

The media outlet reported on 20 May that the 22-year-old Scottish left-back is unlikely to be short on suitors in the transfer window.

This comes after his side got relegated to the second tier and he's unlikely to want to stick around in the 2024/25 season.

Josh Doig can be a good replacement for Borna Barisic at Rangers

Doig is a young, talented left-back with significant potential for growth and could be the ideal replacement for Borna Barisic.

He has already proven himself in Serie A, showcasing his defensive abilities and attacking contributions.

His age aligns with Gers' recruitment policy, which focuses on signing young players with high potential.

The left-back's versatility and adaptability make him a valuable asset as he has experience playing in different tactical systems and can contribute both defensively and offensively.

This would provide Philippe Clement with a more dynamic left-back option, allowing them to be more flexible in their approach to matches.

With Barisic on his way out and Ridvan Yilmaz's injury issues this season, it makes a lot of sense for the club to go all out on a quality left-back this summer.
