Even with Rangers agreeing an £8.5million deal to sign Girona's Kim Min-su, more is wanted in the final third.
Min-su is set to join Daisuke Yokota at Ibrox as Derek McInnes looks to bolster his squad late in the window.
It's been a slow start to the season again, with a 1-0 lead in the Conference League play-off to defend at Jablonec on Thursday.
Lose that, and the final week of the window could look completely different.
What's the latest on Cozier-Duberry to Rangers?
It's hard to nail down when this move could happen.
England and Scotland work to different transfer deadlines, with Rangers have two days more until 3 September.
That means Brighton could make them finalise any possible transfer before 1 September, their deadline.
But to do that, the 49ers and Andrew Cavenagh will have to spend big.
That's because The Athletic has reported that Cozier-Duberry will either stay with Brighton or leave permanently.
There is zero chance of loan move, with several approaches of that manner from England rejected already.
What will Rangers need to pay to sign Cozier-Duberry?
It's likely to be even more than the £8.5m being spent on Min-su.
Having bid less than that for Cozier-Duberry, they're going to have to stump up the cash if they want the English winger.
It's said Rangers would have to pay closer to £10million, which would take the summer's spend up hugely.
Given the money already spent and another striker being wanted to cover Youssef Chermiti's injury, it's a big risk.
So, how could they afford that?
While there's no specific spending limits in Scotland, UEFA do have them, should the Gers qualify as expected.
Nicolas Raskin is seen as the big sale this summer, yet nobody has come in seriously for the Belgian yet, despite his huge World Cup.
McInnes has admitted that the midfielder could still move, but it can't be too close to that deadline next week or that money won't be able to be used.
