How Rangers' deal for Kim Min-su is structured as £8.5m agreement nears completion

Rangers are closing in on the £8.5million signing of Girona winger Kim Min-su.

The Bears are set to welcome the 20-year-old to Ibrox after Derek McInnes made it clear that he wanted further attacking reinforcements.

The Republic of Korea forward spent last season on loan with second-tier Spanish side FC Andorra, where former Barcelona and Spain legend Gerard Pique personally pushed to sign him.

Min-su will offer McInnes a new option primarily on the left-hand side of attack, but has the ability to play on either flank.

This comes after the dramatic turn of events involving Couhaib Driouech, who was set to join the Light Blues before a reported medical issue.

Min-su is not expected to be Rangers' last incoming of the window, as further financial details of the deal with Girona come to light.

According to The Athletic, Girona had been anticipating Rangers meeting the release clause in the winger's contract.

It's said that the £8.5m fee will see the Bears deliver the funds in a "one-off payment".

Min-su was expected to be given an important first team role with the La Liga 2 side this season, but they were always braced for interest in the youngster.

The wide player was one of the leading chance creators in Spain's second tier last season for players in his position, and already averages 1.88 chances created per 90 after playing twice for Giron this campaign.

Though Rangers won't be finished after the confirmation of Min-su's arrival, they may need to raise further funds to do deals.

What comes next for Rangers after Min-su?

The nature of transfers in the modern era usually sees clubs pay transfer fees over a number of years, and that does not look to be the case with Min-su.

Not every club that the Bears deal with from here on out will want to accept transfers that include annual payments, and may want more money up front.
