Nils Koppen masterclass: How Rangers valuation of Nicolas Raskin just became a reality
Rangers could be set to pocket a hefty sum for Nicolas Raskin this summer.
The Belgium international is attracting interest from several teams around Europe after some impressive seasons with the Gers.
As things stand, the 25-year-old's current contract at the Light Blues has two years remaining on it and it feels like the right time to cash in on him.
Atalanta have been in talks about Raskin's exit from Ibrox and the Serie A side could soon have to pay a premium to sign him.
The Glaswegian outfit signed the midfielder for around £1.5million from Standard Liege in January 2023.
With the Belgian ace establishing himself as one of the best in the William Hill Premiership and breaking into Rudi Garcia's World Cup squad, the Govan side may be in for a heftier profit than they once thought.
Rangers could sell Nicolas Raskin for more than initial valuation
Raskin is valued at around £21.5m by the Gers amid interest from Atalanta.
La Dea have been keeping track of the midfielder for months now and have been in conversation with the Light Blues over a move for him since as early as May.
According to Il Giorno on 2 July, the Belgian star's performances at the World Cup could push his value to over £25.7m.
The Italian club are looking to build Maurizio Sarri's three-man midfield in the coming weeks and Raskin is seen as one of the pieces of the puzzle.
How Nils Koppen helped Nicolas Raskin fulfil potential
While Nils Koppen wasn't at Rangers when they signed Raskin, he did play a role in how the midfielder's future has panned out.
The Belgium international initially struggled to break into the Gers' starting lineup and it was only in the 2024-25 campaign that he began to consistently perform for them.
Koppen, who spent time as director of football recruitment and technical director at Ibrox between January 2024 and July 2025, ensured Raskin got his opportunities at Ibrox by deciding not to significantly reinforce the engine room in the summer of 2024.
The Belgian chief always believed in his compatriot's potential and the Glaswegian outfit will soon reap the benefits.
