Nils Koppen could maintain his allegiance to Rangers this summer.

The Dutchman has now sealed a move to West Ham after a spell at Copenhagen.

He completed a move to Denmark in October 2025 after being relieved of his duties at Ibrox just four months prior.

He spent less than a year with the Danes before taking the chance to move on and return to the UK.

The 41-year-old has taken up a job as Director of Player Recruitment with the Hammers after their relegation to the Championship.

Koppen is yet to do any business at the London Stadium, but his first moves could act as a massive boost to Rangers.

Nils Koppen wants Celtic trio at West Ham

There has been plenty of business being done at Ibrox since the departure of the transfer chief.

Some has been pretty poor, but this summer has been busy and will have a telling say on what happens under Derek McInnes this season.

The Gers will certainly be up against it if they want to try and finally beat Celtic to the Scottish Premiership title.

That could be made easier should the Hoops face adversity in the shape of three departures.

Koppen has his eye on exactly that as Hammers News reported on Tuesday that he wants to bring Arne Engels, Reo Hatate and Michel-Ange Balikwisha to East London.

Those exits would certainly have a damaging impact on Martin O'Neill's side and could certainly play into the Light Blues' hands.

That would all be on Koppen as he could improve his reputation in G51 after some positive dealings in his days at Ibrox.

Who were Koppen's best Rangers signings?

The Dutchman has been looked upon more favourably since departing the Govan club.

He faced contrasting views at times, but looking back some of his business was excellent.

There were no better moves than that of Hamza Igamane who cost just £1.7million from FAR Rabat in 2024.

He was sold later for £10m after just one season in a perfect example of how Rangers need to operate in the market.

Connor Barron is another example of being financially wise after he came in on a free transfer from Aberdeen in the same summer.

He has proven to be a useful asset in G51 and could even be on the move for a guaranteed profit shortly.

A different type of signing saw Vaclav Cerny come in on loan from Wolfsburg.

He was only available for a year but having contributed to 27 goals in all competitions, he proved his worth in spades.

Koppen has shown what he can do for Rangers and could be set to continue that by damaging Celtic's chances this summer.
