Nicolas Raskin's bizarre Domenico Tedesco history raises eyebrows over Rangers exit links
Nicolas Raskin has enjoyed a superb time at Rangers, and has naturally been linked with a move away as a result.
The midfielder joined the club from Standard Liege in 2023, and has continued to shift through the gears.
The Gers would miss out on the title last term, but the Belgian remained crucial when fit.
Now, Italian side Bologna are said to be eyeing a deal for Raskin.
Former Belgium boss Domenico Tedesco has taken the reins in Emilia-Romagna, following the departure of Vincenzo Italiano.
But Tedesco and Raskin share a unique history that will leave Rangers fans scratching their heads.
Nico Raskin was previously snubbed by Domenico Tedesco
As the Red Devils were knocked out at the group stage of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Belgian football was left in disarray, with the golden generation left in the past.
Seeing through the next generation, former Schalke and RB Leipzig boss Domenico Tedesco took over in 2023 - guiding them into Euro 2024.
Throughout this time, the German/Italian would embrace the talent of Jeremy Doku, Amadou Onana, Charles De Ketelaere and more.
However, Raskin remained nowhere to be seen - something that remained the case until after Tedesco's 2024 departure.
The midfielder would later reveal, as shared by Rangers Review, that Tedesco had frozen him out, with Raskin's name not even part of a 150-man list of the Belgian talent pool.
Belgium would crash out at the round of 16 stage of Euro 2024, prompting the instant sacking of Tedesco, who had gone back on his usage of younger talents
In March 2025, Raskin would finally get his first call for the national team, with Rudi Garcia selecting his first as boss.
Raskin left with puzzling Tedesco conundrum as transfer interest laid out
Surely Raskin would not want to go anywhere near the former Belgian boss given their history.
That is how some may see it anyway, because the chance may be there for Raskin to prove Tedesco wrong - especially if his mind really has been changed by the form of the midfielder.
Bologna are a side always in and around the race for Europe in Italy, while they have always provided good moves to players wishing to move on, this could be a decider for the 25-year-old.
However, the history with Tedesco may just put him off.
He has proven a capable manager on the continent, but he is hardly the character who players are desperate to play for - even more so to prove them wrong for a poor decision in years gone by.
Raskin has a big decision to make on his future this summer, and former Belgium boss Tedesco could swing this.
