Nicolas Raskin sympathy emerges at Rangers after Auchenhowie interrogation
Nicolas Raskin continues to be questioned about his Rangers future.
The Belgium international was expected to leave in the summer, but stayed and has now become a key player for Derek McInnes.
Despite the 25-year-old's influence at the Gers, uncertainty remains about his future, as his contract expires in around 18 months.
Raskin is enjoying his time under McInnes, but he will surely continue to face inquiries about potentially leaving Ibrox soon.
The former Standard Liege star has arguably developed into one of the best players in the Scottish Premiership and has now become a regular in the Belgium squad.
While the midfielder would like to focus on his present situation at the Glaswegian outfit, the media likely won't let him rest.
What Nicolas Raskin has said about new Rangers contract
McInnes would love to continue working with Raskin at the Gers, but that depends on various factors.
The Light Blues certainly wouldn't want to see the midfielder leave as a free agent and a sale could likely be on the cards next summer.
Raskin admitted during a press conference at Auchenhowie on Friday that signing a contract extension at Ibrox isn't up to him but the club.
With so much noise around the Belgium international, it's easy to feel some sympathy for him.
Speaking on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard on 23 October, journalist Hugh Keevins said: "I feel sorry for him in respect to the fact that someone would've asked him about this. He didn't bring it up himself.
"I have a certain sympathy with him because he's only responding to questions.
"The fundamental point is, if Rangers were to be offered really good money, I think they would sell him. But I don't think McInnes would be unhappy if he still had him."
Why Nicolas Raskin exit feels inevitable at Ibrox
Rangers made a significant investment in their midfielder in the previous transfer window.
Dan Neil, Cammy Devlin and Vanja Dragojevic were signed to bolster McInnes' engine room.
The Scottish manager anticipated Raskin's exit, but he has now formed an impressive partnership with the former Sunderland ace.
Dragojevic has had to watch on from the sidelines after putting in some encouraging performances at the start of the season.
Tonchi Chukwuani is another player the Light Blues signed recently whose development has stalled.
Considering the investment the Glaswegian outfit have made in some young midfielders, it wouldn't make sense to hold on to Raskin much longer.
