Next steps for Rangers as verbal agreement reached for Nico Raskin to quit Ibrox

Nicolas Raskin may be on his way out of Rangers in the next few days.

While the transfer window has closed for several major European leagues, there are still plenty of countries who are open for business.

Belgium midfielder Raskin has been consistently linked with the Ibrox exit door this summer, with the 25-year-old only having two years left on his contract.

Indeed, he has not featured in Rangers past two matchday squads amid the uncertainty over his future.

Now, it looks as though Raskin has a decision to make in the coming days after a new update from Fabrizio Romano.

Rangers strike agreement for Raskin to exit Ibrox

Several clubs in Europe have been linked with Raskin throughout the window.

The likes of Real Betis in LaLiga, Serie A duo Bologna and Atalanta, and Premier League side Hull City have all been previously linked.

However, no concrete development occurred with those sides, and Romano posted on X to reveal that Turkish giants Besiktas have entered the fray.

Romano wrote that Besiktas have reached a verbal agreement with Rangers in principle for the transfer of Raskin.

He added that the decision now lies with Raskin about whether he wants the move, but talks are underway.

The transfer window in Turkey does not shut until Friday, 4 September, so Raskin still has a few days to ponder his next move, though time is of the essence.

In an ideal world, Rangers would not have to consider selling their best players.

But, ultimately, if the Gers want to progress then they simply have to become better at player trading.

Raskin is a popular player with the Ibrox faithful, but it does feel like the time to show canny business sense is now.
