Mikey Moore may only return to Rangers a lot later than Derek McInnes would prefer.

The winger excelled on loan at Ibrox last season, with supporters now hopeful of his imminent return.

Moore has already admitted how he fell head over heels for the club, understanding the passion and desire from fans to see the team do well.

The Bears have been moving on other transfer fronts while his future remains uncertain, though if he were not to come back, there could be big problems.

Transfer plans were always set to remain very similar despite the appointment of McInnes, who already knows all about Moore's qualities.

Now, Roberto De Zerbi wants to take a look at the Tottenham youngster during pre-season, which may immediately shift some of the thinking behind the scenes at Rangers.

Here's how Rangers' plans could change amid Mikey Moore decision

According to an update from Football London this Tuesday, Tottenham are keen to give Moore a chance to impress during pre-season, with De Zerbi a driving force behind the decision to keep him that little bit longer.

That being said, it remains uncertain as to whether Rangers have a contingency plan in place if Moore does not return.

Once Tottenham's survival from Premier League relegation was confirmed, the Bears' chances of re-signing the winger were always boosted.

But nothing in football is certain.

Rangers may now need to move quickly to identify possible left-wing options after the news around Moore.

Djurgarden's Oskar Fallenius has been linked to Ibrox, and the Swedish star can play on either flank.

Then there's also someone Rangers already have on their books in Nedim Bajrami, who could now be the subject of a more in-depth review by McInnes this summer.

While this update could affect who the Bears target in one specific position, the money they use for other areas may now need to be trimmed.

That's if Tottenham decide to keep Moore, as a lengthy pre-season awaits the teenager.

When does Tottenham's pre-season end?

Former Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou was amazed by Moore's attitude and work ethic despite his natural ability.

The Aussie said, as quoted by L'Equipe in 2024: "It would be very easy for a young man like him, who has just turned 17, to think that he has succeeded, but you never get that impression. It's fascinating."

If De Zerbi were to give Moore a fair crack at impressing him this summer, then he would be involved in Tottenham's full pre-season agenda until their league campaign starts at the back end of August.

Spurs have a chunky pre-season calendar, with trips to New Zealand and Australia booked, as well as two friendlies when the Lilywhites return home.

Moore could be with Tottenham up until the end of their pre-season preparations, which will officially finish after their behind-closed-doors friendly against Hoffenheim on Sunday, 16 August.

Spurs then start their league season the following weekend.

Rangers will have already played both of their first two league games of the Scottish Premiership by then, as there won't be much time remaining in the summer transfer window.
