Meet Kostyantyn Vivcharenoko: The left-back Rangers see Tuur Rommens upgrade in

Rangers may not be done adding to their left-back position this summer.

Upon the arrival of James Penrice on loan from AEK Athens, many Rangers fans probably assumed that would be that for Gers in this area.

Of course, Derek McInnes also has Tuur Rommens when fit, but the Belgian is currently sidelined for several weeks through injury.

However, if Rangers are to return to the top of Scottish football, then Ibrox chiefs will need to be ruthless in their pursuit of success.

Perhaps this is what they're planning to do at the left-back position before this summer's transfer deadline.

That's because a new name has been touted with a move to Govan, and it's unlikely he'd be coming to sit on the bench.

What has been said about Rangers' interest in Kostiantyn Vivcharenko?

Rangers have once again proven themselves to be confident buyers in a host of European markets.

Players have arrived at Ibrox this summer from the likes of Greece, Germany, Serbia and Italy.

One market they haven't shopped in yet is Ukrainian football, but that could be about to change.

A report from TransferFeed claims that Dynamo Kyiv left-back Kostiantyn Vivcharenko is on Rangers' shortlist of possible new signings.

It's stated that the 24-year-old is seen as a long-term option at Ibrox, and that he could become a key player in Govan moving forward.

He's contracted with Dynamo until the summer of 2028, meaning now could be their best chance to bank a premium fee for him.

The report also claims that Spanish sides Deportivo La Coruna and Real Betis, as well as Greek outfit Panathinaikos have all been touted with him too.

So, what kind of player is Vivcharenko and what is his footballing story so far?

Vivcharenko would bring Champions League pedigree to Rangers

Standing at 5'10" tall, the Odesa-born Vivcharenko has been with Dynamo Kyiv since 2015.

He's been on the fringes of the first-team squad since 2020, but didn't make his senior debut until July 2022.

Since then, he's gone on to make 105 competitive appearances for Dynamo, scoring four goals and providing eight assists.

He's also represented Ukraine at Under-15, 16, 17 and U21 levels, winning 33 caps for his country in the latter age group.

In 2025-26, he played in the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League for Kyiv, and first turned out in the former two back in 2022-23.

Picking up three assists in 20 Ukrainian Premier League games last season, his numbers suggest he's a capable of making an impact in attack as well.
