Rangers must exploit Club Brugge's potential £30m windfall in any Tuur Rommens deal

Tuur Rommens' Rangers future may hang in the balance.

The Belgian defender is currently sidelined for between four to eight weeks, but he may not be at Ibrox when he returns.

Club Brugge have contacted the Light Blues to enquire over the 23-year-old left-back's situation.

Rommens has proved to be a very capable defender and quality going forward in his time in Scotland.

Derek McInnes is unlikely to be willing to sell, but if their hand is forced, then the Glasgow-based side must extract the highest fee possible.

As a result, the hierarchy in Govan must be firm with their demands and exploit the Blue-Black.

Why could Club Brugge have £30m spare for Rangers to capitalise on?

The Belgian side's interest is a result of attention in the market for their defender Joaquin Seys.

A report from the Daily Record on Saturday claims that a figure of up to £30million could on the cards for the six-cap international.

It states that the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal and Newcastle have shown interest.

Brugge have apparently identified Rommens are their replacement, per Sacha Tavolieri if the 21-year-old moves on.

However, that should simply make the Bears dig their heels in and force them to hand over most of that sum.

The Gers star is valued at £6m by Transfermarkt, but given that Brugge could get a huge windfall and the player's value to McInnes' side, they should demand a lot more.

Why Brugge move may take Rommens' fancy

The move may appeal to Rommens for several reasons, the main one being his international aspirations.

It is little surprise that he appeals to them as he has been described as a "tireless performer" by Scottish Sun reporter Derek McGregor.

He would be moving back to his homeland, which may put him in better stock when it comes to the national team, especially with Brugge's status in Europe growing.

He has not been capped for the Red Devils yet, after nine appearances for the Under-21 side.

Of course that could happen with the G51 side, as Nicolas Raskin has earned call-ups while with the Light Blues.

Another factor may be that the Pro League outfit are in the Champions League, which will increase his exposure even more to national team boss Mark van Bommel.

Regardless of whether he wants the switch or not, the Gers must hold firm and demand what he is worth, rather than letting him go on the cheap.
