Lewis Ferguson receives insider approval as Barry Ferguson wants Scotland trio at Rangers
Lewis Ferguson would be a magnificent signing for Rangers.
The Scotland international was heavily linked with a move to the Gers in the summer transfer window, but it didn't materialise.
Speculation continues around the midfielder's future at Bologna and a move to the Light Blues could be on the cards in the coming years.
Barry Ferguson would love to see Lewis at Ibrox after starting his career in Auchehowie.
The Bologna ace has plenty of family ties to the Glaswegian outfit and may soon follow in his father's and uncle's footsteps.
Derek McInnes also previously worked with the midfielder at Aberdeen and could reunite with him in Govan.
Why Barry Ferguson wants triple Rangers transfer
Playing for Rangers is a dream for Lewis and fans in G51 will hope he can fulfil that one day.
Barry has been left impressed by his nephew's recent comments about a potential move to Ibrox in the future.
The Gers icon is eager to finally see the 27-year-old Bologna captain play for the Glaswegian outfit.
Apart from Lewis, Barry raised the possibility of Torino's Nathan Patterson and Napoli's Billy Gilmour also returning to the club where they spent parts of their careers.
Writing in the Daily Record on 2 October, the Govan side's former interim manager said, "I enjoyed listening to [Lewis] because I think, for a young man, he spoke with maturity and honesty," Barry wrote in the Daily Record
"Yes, one day I would love to see it happen. And who knows? Maybe all three of these boys could end up back at Ibrox together at some point in the future.
Does Derek McInnes need Scotland trio at Ibrox?
Rangers expect to lose Nicolas Raskin sooner rather than later and they will certainly need to find a quality replacement for him.
Lewis would fit the bill perfectly, with the Scottish ace bringing immense quality and leadership.
At right-back, Dujon Sterling, Kosta Nedeljkovic and Ross McCrorie are at McInnes disposal for now.
Patterson, 24, still has plenty of years left and could potentially make a return to Ibrox if the opportunity arises.
Gilmour, 25, has had a mixed spell at Napoli due to fitness issues and if the Govan side ever need a player who can maintain possession and progress the ball forward, he would be the perfect signing.
