Kim Min-su confusion emerges as Rangers source shares medical update

Kim Min-su's potential transfer to Rangers has sparked confusion.

The Gers are understood to be targeting the Girona winger who has an £8.5million release clause.

Derek McInnes has constantly stressed the need for more creativity on the flanks after a poor start to the campaign.

However, the transfer may not be as far along as initially though, after a new update.

Rangers had reportedly scheduled a medical for Monday, but it appears that is not the case.

What is the latest update on Kim Min-su medical at Rangers?

There seems to be confusion about the progression of the deal, with the Rangers Review's Chris Jack claiming that a medical is not on the cards.

He did share that a source connected with the Govan club has told him that they are hopeful there will be some progress coming.

Speaking on the platform's Monday's Morning Briefing, he said: “The update on this is that he is not having a medical today, there is no medical booked in for Kim.

“Talks are ongoing to make this one happen, someone I spoke to at the club is hopeful that there will be a bit of movement on it today.

“As it stands he is not a Rangers player and there is no medical booked, he is someone that they are trying to get in the door.”

However, Spanish journalist Nil Sola claimed that there is an agreement between the sides.

He stated on his X account on Monday that Kim is expected to travel soon for medical examinations.

Rangers fans will be having nightmares when it comes to medical drama.

They were on the verge of the £7m signing of Couhaib Driouech, before the result of his tests saw them pull out of a deal after he had been spotted in the stands of their Europa League qualifier with Jagiellonia.

The Light Blues wanted a player who was ready to contribute immediately, and deemed that he would be out for around six weeks, so could not help take the burden from the likes of Djeidi Gassama and Daisuke Yokota.

However, PSV denied that was the case, and he was set to be in the squad for their game with Groningen, before he was withdrawn amid transfer interest from Celta Vigo.

They will hope that something similar does not happen with Kim and he eventually completes a move.

Even if he signs before Thursday's Europa Conference League play-off second leg with Jablonec, he will not be available, as there can't be any registration changes.

If he does sign before the weekend, then he could make his debut in the Scottish Premiership clash with Aberdeen on 30 August.

However, with all the confusion over his transfer, it is unknown whether that will happen or not.
