How Rangers saw off competition for Kim Min-su as new update shared on exciting deal

Rangers will be pulling off a coup of sorts when Kim Min-su finalises his move from Girona.

The Gers are hopeful of announcing Kim as their 11th signing of another hectic transfer window.

Derek McInnes has been eager to add to his wide options and will do just that in the 20-year-old winger.

Kim has been on Girona's books for the past four years, but he spent last season on loan in the second tier with Andorra.

It is there that he seriously caught the eye, leading to plenty of interest from Rangers and others.

But it is Rangers who have won the race, with a new update emerging on where the deal stands.

Where Kim Min-su to Rangers transfer now stands

It was reported last week that Kim is expected to undergo a Rangers medical on Monday.

That still looks like being the plan, as Monday's print edition of Mundo Deportivo report that confirmation of the deal is "one step away".

As already covered, Rangers will pay Girona around £8.5million after triggering the player's release clause.

After scoring six goals and registering four assists last season, Kim is considered one of Girona's "outstanding players of the new project".

The report from the Spanish publication adds that several other clubs were in for Kim, including Turkish side Trabzonspor, but Rangers always showed the greatest determination to get a deal done.

At a time when pretty much every figure at the club is coming in for criticism, some praise is needed for this deal.

When could Kim make Rangers debut?

As we have already seen this window, a deal can never be considered done until the signature is on the sheet of paper.

Assuming there are no issues flagged in Kim's medical, however, as was the case for Couhaib Driouech, he will be a Rangers player early this week.

However, Kim was not registered for the first leg of the Conference League qualifying playoff against Jablonec and therefore can't feature in the reverse fixture on Thursday.

Instead, the youngster will have to wait until the Scottish Premiership clash with Aberdeen next Sunday to make his Gers bow.

If Rangers fans get their way, he will not be the only new signing included that day.
