Jack Butland reacts as new contract for Rangers goalkeeper announced
Jack Butland's future at Rangers has been up in the air due to controversial performances for the Bears last season and beyond.
Gers have outlined multiple transfer targets for the upcoming window, as Andrew Cavenagh has stated it will be a "summer of change".
There are multiple areas that Danny Rohl would like to improve, as the goalkeeping position has come into question on several occasions.
Sheffield Wednesday's Pierce Charles is on Stig Igne Bjornebye's radar, as well as Sunderland's Anthony Patterson.
However, as much as the Bears need to focus on incomings, they need to look after their own players at the club, too.
Rangers have got another piece of business done early, as Butland has reacted to the latest contract announcement from the club this Tuesday.
Liam Kelly earns new Rangers contract
Rangers have announced that Liam Kelly has signed a new two-year contract with the club.
The 30-year-old re-signed for the Bears in June of 2024, coming to Ibrox for free after his deal with Motherwell expired.
He's since made another 16 appearances for Gers across the last two seasons, and is seen as an important figure behind the scenes.
Rangers' official announcement on Instagram prompted Kelly's team-mate and fellow goalkeeper Butland to like the post, while Ibrox-linked Josh Windass also liked the news on social media.
The Bears have their back-up for next season clear in Kelly, but Butland's future is still left uncertain.
Names of Jack Butland and Josh Windass bring up interesting transfer conversation
Given that Gers have been linked with some shot-stoppers already this window, it seems like the club does plan to replace Butland this summer.
Whether they can get a deal done or not remains to be seen, as Rohl still values the experience that the Englishman brings to the team.
Wrexham's Windass is clearly still watching what Gers do this summer, as seen by his interaction with the Kelly's contract news.
However, after being linked with a return to Ibrox, the signing of Lawrence Shankland puts a move for Windass in doubt.
Rohl already has Youssef Chermiti, Ryan Naderi, Bojan Miovski and Shankland as striker options, and though Windass can play behind the number nine, it's unlikely that there would space for him, as things stand.
It seems a transfer that is off the cards, but in football, you never know.
