Jack Butland has revealed his surprise after leaving Rangers this summer.

The ex-England international has now confirmed a move to Hull City after their promotion to the Premier League.

He will now prepare for a return to his homeland after three years at Ibrox.

The move did come as a surprise to supporters as it all happened very quickly.

Ivor Pandur has come in as part of an unorthodox swap deal where funds were spent on both players, with the Croatian costing £6million.

Butland echoes the sentiment of fans in G51 as he spoke out in an interview for the first time after his Govan exit.

Jack Butland questioned after Derek McInnes comments

It is all change for the Light Blues this summer after plenty of new signings at this early stage of the summer.

Derek McInnes has also come in to add a fresh face to the dugout for the third time in as many seasons.

There will be a new man between the sticks at Ibrox at the expense of Butland.

That is despite him speaking on talkSPORT just under two weeks ago about how much he is looking forward to featuring under the new manager in Govan.

Gabby Agbonlahor questioned that on Monday, leaving the new Hull man to reveal he knew nothing about his imminent move.

In his first public interview since leaving Rangers, he said: "It's football, you should know it. It's incredible. I had no idea at that point [last time on talkSPORT]. No truer words were said last time so it's a bittersweet one.

"Letting go, I don't think you can when you've been at a club like Rangers. You don't really let go. It's been really tough. I'll never be far from it, I fully enjoyed the last three years, it's been a huge part of my career and one that I'm very grateful about having the opportunity to be a part of.

"It's bittersweet, sad to leave, but really excited about the opportunity."

Why finances at Hull City forced Rangers into Butland call

There is clear frustration on Butland's side this summer that he has been forced out of Ibrox.

That is thanks in part to some pretty poor performances in the Scottish Premiership last season.

Rangers have another reason behind the move as there was a perfect market opportunity to land an excellent signing in Pandur.

Hull needed to bring in £6m before 30 June before the new financial year begun to avoid a points deduction for the new campaign.

That allowed the Gers to step in and swap Butland with the Croatian in a speedy move, with his £3m move the other way saving funds, too.

The Englishman ultimately felt blindsided as a result, but it was a move that McInnes and Co. couldn't pass up on.

Now, all eyes are on the future at Ibrox.
