Ivor Pandur looks set to become Derek McInnes' fourth signing at Rangers.

The Gers have already added Lawrence Shankland, Ross McCrorie and Ben Godfrey to their ranks.

The Hull City stopper seems to be Jack Butland's replacement at Ibrox, with a transfer edging closer to completion.

The Englishman has been criticised by some observers for his mistakes that have led to Rangers conceding on several occasions.

He is particularly sloppy with the ball at his feet, and the new man is more comfortable than him in that aspect.

Given Pandur's directness, he could be exactly what the doctor ordered for the Light Blues and McInnes.

How do Jack Butland and Ivor Pandur compare when it comes to passing?

Distribution is one of the most powerful assets that a goalkeeper can have in the modern game.

Butland has a solid pass accuracy, completing 70.1 per cent of his attempts, per Fotmob, but he is poor when it comes to long balls.

The current Gers starting stopper makes just 4.71 accurate long passes per game.

While Pandur has a lower pass accuracy of just 55.2 per cent, he attempts much more long balls.

The Croatian averaged 7.42 per game in the 2025-26 Championship season.

Now, the Gers are set to sign Pandur in a £6million deal, with Butland heading the other way, according to Baz Cooper from the Hull Daily Mail.

That will be music to the ears of the new Ibrox boss.

Why Derek McInnes will love Pandur's distribution

McInnes' Gers side will have to beat high presses often, and Pandur may be the perfect weapon for that.

The new manager will want his goalkeeper to play direct and bypass the press, and the 26-year-old is adept at doing that.

He will aim to get the ball to wingers and strikers quickly, and Pandur clearly has a reliable long ball on him, which will help with that.

The lower general pass accuracy is probably a case of attempting more long balls, as they are obviously harder to complete than short, safe passes.

Gers fans will be happy to get rid of Butland and get a promising new man between the sticks, regardless of what he may bring.
