How Robbie Ure responded to Rangers 'unfinished business' question as confession made

Robbie Ure hasn't closed the door on a return to Rangers in the future.

The 22-year-old spent a number of years during his youth career at Auchenhowie, where he predominantly played for Rangers' B team.

He did make three competitive first-team appearances for Gers, and would score his only goal in the League Cup against Queen of the South in August 2022.

Ure rejected a contract extension at Ibrox in May 2023, however, and would eventually sign for Belgian giants Anderlecht in September of that same year.

Now with Swedish side Sirius since March 2025, the Scotland youth international has established himself as arguably the best striker in Sweden.

As a result, there is growing transfer talk linking him with a big-money move to a top European league, and naturally, the idea of a Rangers reunion will also be on people's minds.

How Robbie Ure would respond to Rangers approach

With Rangers having already signed Lawrence Shankland this summer, and now that they appear likely to keep Youssef Chermiti, it seems unlikely that Derek McInnes will go hunting for another centre-forward in this window.

But there is that old saying about never having too many good strikers and goalscorers in your team, and so Ure may well be on Rangers' transfer radar, either for now or with a future swoop in mind.

The ex-Gers talent certainly appears keen on a future return to Ibrox too, as he's revealed in a Sky Sports News interview on Wednesday.

As quoted via Sky Sports Scotland's X account, Ure was asked by reporter Dharmesh Sheth: "I'm guessing you've been asked this question before given where you started at Rangers, do you feel there's maybe a bit of unfinished business there?

"Yeah, you could say that," Ure responded. "Of course, up until I was 19 Rangers was all I ever knew.

"I feel like the opportunity, if it was to ever come in the future, to go back there would be something I would really think about.

"It would mean a lot to a lot of people. So yeah, you could say that there could be some unfinished business, and if that opportunity does come ahead in the future then yes, it would be something to consider for sure."

So, just how well is Ure playing in Sweden, and does it suggest that Rangers should look to sign him right now?

How Ure is playing his way towards lucrative transfer exit

In Sirius, Ure has really found a home where he's been able to unlock his long-touted potential.

The Swedish Allsvenskan (Sweden's top division) outfit are currently sitting top of the league after 15 games, from which they've won 13, drawn two and lost zero.

Indeed, they're already 14 points clear of second-placed Hammarby, and look set to lift their first ever Allsvenskan title in 2026.

That could all change if Ure leaves the Uppsala-based side this summer, as he's also the current top scorer in Sweden's top flight with 15 goals from 15 appearances.

Ure is in remarkable scoring form at present, having found the net 10 times from his last six Allsvenskan games, even scoring four in a 4-4 draw with Mjallby in early July.

He's already about to equal his number of goals from 2025, where he scored 16 in 35 total appearances.

So, if Rangers don't sign Ure this summer, with the way he's playing in Sweden right now, Gers may well miss their chance to reunite with their former academy talent as top clubs must be taking notice.

Therefore, signing another striker may not be Gers' most pressing transfer issue at the moment, but if Ure's up for it and the finances work, then bringing him back to Govan now must be something Ibrox chiefs have to give serious consideration to.
