How Rangers can instantly weaken Danny Rohl rival as Ryan Fosso deal on
Rangers are leading the way to sign Sturm Graz midfielder Ryan Fosso.
This comes as the Gers look to build a squad capable of challenging for the title next term.
They did come close last time out, before a barren run in the season's final weeks saw their hopes go up in smoke.
Danny Rohl has since left, replaced by Derek McInnes, who is in charge of leading the coming title charge.
Things ended on a fair note between Rohl and Rangers, with there no bad blood between the club and boss.
And now, the Gers could be about to weaken a direct rival of his as he takes his job at RB Salzburg.
Rangers in talks for 'remarkable' Ryan Fosso
As per Sky Sports Switzerland, Rangers are the furthest down the road in the race to sign Fosso.
Levante and Torino are also keen, but Rangers currently lead the LaLiga and Serie A clubs, as well as another unnamed Italian side.
Fosso joined Austrian giants Sturm Graz just six months ago in a deal worth £900,000, but could be headed for the exit already, with Torino and Levante also interested.
Said to have "remarkable technical skill" in the same report, he could be a real coup, but Rangers would have to provide a sizeable fee just six months on from his move.
Having came through the youth ranks in Switzerland, Fosso made the international switch to Cameroon earlier this year.
His experience on the continent could be a huge boost for the Gers, and former boss Rohl may just consider it as a much-welcomed treat.
How could Rangers unintentionally help Danny Rohl's Salzburg?
In the Austrian Bundesliga, RB Salzburg and Sturm Graz sits as definitive heavyweight title fight.
Sturm do share an intense local rivalry with neighbours Grazer AK, but the modern rivalry with Salzburg has intensified on the pitch, with the Blacks ending Salzburg's 10-year title streak in 2024.
Since then, the Red Bull club have not lifted the title, with LASK last winning in May this year.
Sturm Graz finished second in the eventual standings, a place above Salzburg, who have turned to Rohl to finally win back the title.
Now, they could be weakened by losing one of their stars in Fosso, who made 11 starts out of a possible 14 at the end of the season following his January move.
