Rabbi Matondo move to SK Brann has not gone to plan.

The former Rangers winger's struggles have continued over in Norway, as he looks to revive his career.

He has played just 30 minutes of football for the Norwegian football club, and it has emerged this week he was told he was no longer in the manager's plans.

Now, after that clarity over his future, he is looking to move elsewhere just months after joining from Rangers.

While the Gers did allow him to leave for free, the deal was not a simple free transfer.

Due to Matondo having a contract in Glasgow at the time of his departure, the Bears negotiated a sell-on clause and add-on bonuses.

Will Rangers land a financial windfall from Rabbi Matondo?

Matondo's future at SK Brann has been looking bleak over the last few days and Rangers would have been keeping an eye on the situation.

It seemed that Matondo would stay until the end of his contract, meaning the sell-on clause would expire when he became a free agent.

But now, Norwegian outlet Bergens Tidende has reported that Matondo has been allowed to speak with another club, as he moves closer to an exit.

That would potentially open the door for that clause to be activated.

However, when it comes to whether the Gers will see money arrive from that sell-on clause, Ibrox News understands that will not be the case.

Brann are likely to allow Matondo to depart on a free transfer, like Rangers allowed, in order to get him off their books.

After his injury struggles at Ibrox over the last few years, Matondo has been unable to get up to the fitness demanded by his manager.

Hence, he has fallen quickly out of Brann's plans.

What happens next for Matondo?

Matondo will have to get his next move right in order to get his career back on track. As of now, it is not yet known who the winger is in talks with.

Either way, his lack of minutes in Norway have not helped him head in that direction of returning to the displays that originally brought him to Ibrox.

For Rangers, Matondo's exit from Brann before the end of his short-term contract, will be the end of any chance of a financial gain and ultimately put an end to any residual eyes still left watching over him.

The forward certainly faces an uphill battle but at the age of 25, there is still time for things to turn around.
