Exclusive: Jayden Meghoma unaware of Rangers bid to re-sign him

Meghoma coming back to Glasgow would make sense as he already has experience in Scottish football, and looked like a tidy player.

However, reports that the Bears are in talks with Brentford over another loan deal may be wide of the mark.

What has caused confusion with Jayden Meghoma's potential Rangers return?

Rangers are definitely interested in adding to their full-backs, that has been made clear by their activity in recent days.

Sky Sports claimed on Tuesday that they are looking into a return for Meghoma, stating that he could be in the squad for the League Cup game with St Mirren on Sunday.

However, a source with knowledge of the situation told Ibrox News that they had not heard anything about a potential return.

Given the proximity they have to the potential deal, it would appear that Meghoma is unaware of the apparent bid too.

Why Rangers should have interest in bringing Meghoma back

The Light Blues could do much worse than bringing the Bees ace back to the club.

He notched one goal and four assists in 29 matches in the league last season, and his underlying numbers were impressive, and he would be a back-up to Tuur Rommens anyway.

He averaged 4.98 defensive contributions, making 1.80 tackles, 3.31 recoveries and 2.32 clearances, per Fotmob data.

They could do better offensively, as he only managed 0.86 chances created and 0.56 shots per 90, but his main job is to be solid at the other end, not going forward.

He would have to learn a completely new system, as Danny Rohl is no longer the manager, but the understanding of the fanbase and the expectations would certainly help him to settle quickly.
