Neil signed a three-year contract when he joined the Gers after leaving boyhood club Sunderland.
That is set to keep him at Auchenhowie until the summer of 2029, as it stands.
He is believed to be earning around the £30,000-per-week mark with the Bears.
If he continues to show the kind of performance that he put in against Celtic, he will surely stick around longer than the expiry of his current deal.
How has Neil performed so far this season?
Neil has had a rocky start to life in Scotland, especially in the Scottish Premiership.
He has completed 84.6 per cent of his passes, and created 0.58 chances per game for his teammates, according to Fotmob data.
Neil has averaged 5.83 defensive contributions per 90 minutes, with 2.91 tackles, 2.62 recoveries and 0.87 clearances.
In terms of duels, he has won 51.5 per cent on the ground and 50 per cent in the air.
Gers fans will hope that he can take the showing in the League Cup with the Hoops and bring it into the league match with the same opposition on Sunday.
If he can do that, he will have a big chance of making himself a key player for McInnes' side.
What did Neil say after his exploits against Celtic?
Speaking after the game, Neil was keen to praise his teammates, rather than his own showing.
In quotes reported by the BBC, he said: "I knew that there was going to be a turn in form from everybody because I see the quality in the changing room and maybe we just needed that little bit of getting to know each other's games and getting to know each other as people as well.
"People underestimate how big that is in a changing room and you've seen a more together team over the last few weeks."
That kind of mentality should serve him well in G51, and give him the platform to succeed and earn longer terms in the long-run.
