Everything Derek McInnes said on 'flight risk' Nicolas Raskin amid Rangers exit latest

Derek McInnes has opened up on the future of Rangers "flight risk" Nicolas Raskin.

The Belgium midfielder is widely expected to depart Ibrox this summer amid high interest in the 25-year-old.

However, Raskin remains a Gers player for now and featured last time out in the Europa League qualifying first-leg defeat to Jagiellonia Białystok.

Despite his involvemenet in the disappointing 2-1 setback, there is still huge uncertainty about his long-term future.

He is set to be involved in Rangers' squad for Sunday's Scottish Premiership clash with Hibernian, though.

And Gers boss McInnes addressed the latest surrounding Raskin's situation when previewing the game with the media.

What did Derek McInnes say about Nicolas Raskin's future?

Sadly, it still feels massively like a question of "when" not "if" Raskin is going to depart Rangers before the end of the window.

Indeed, the fact that the likes of Cammy Devlin, Dan Neil, and Vanja Dragojevic have arrived suggests McInnes knew full well he'd have to account for the departure of McInnes.

But, for the time being, McInnes plans to keep using Raskin while he is still at the club, though acknowledged it may be a waiting game in terms of his exit.

In quotes reported by Rangers Review, McInnes said: "I think while he's here, we'll use him because there are too many variables still about if he could stay or if he is going to go. 

“I came into this with my eyes wide open; we knew there was a flight risk with him and we knew that it might be time for Nico to look for something else. 

“If somebody meets the club's valuation and it’s something that Nico fancies, then it might be his time to move on. But while he's here, I'll try and enjoy working with him. I think he's enjoying his work here and he's always cared for the club.”

Where could Nicolas Raskin end up if he leaves Rangers?

It is extremely difficult to second guess where Raskin could end up at the moment.

His stock rose after an impressive World Cup with Belgium, and his performances led to increased speculation he would leave.

Early in the window, Premier League new boys Hull City and Serie A duo Bologna and Roma were linked to his signature.

More recently, LaLiga clubs Villarreal and Real Betis have been predominantly linked with Raskin's signature, so there is clearly so shortage of suitors.

McInnes is right to utilise Raskin, because right now he remains a Rangers player.

But it does feel inevitable that come the end of the window, he will no longer be part of McInnes' squad.
