Barry Ferguson makes £20m Nicolas Raskin claim after what he heard about Arne Engels
Barry Ferguson thinks Rangers will look to bank the cash if their valuation of Nicolas Raskin is met.
The Belgium midfielder made his first appearace of the campaign in the disappointing 2-1 reverse to Jagiellonia Białystok in Europa League qualifying.
However, the 25-year-old is facing an increasingly uncertain future at Ibrox.
Raskin has been consistently linked with a move away from Govan, with Rangers pondering cashing in with two years left on his contract.
As yet, nothing concrete has emerged in terms of talks or bids, but there is certainly interest from elsewhere in Raskin.
Indeed, former Rangers captain and interim manager Ferguson thinks if the Gers do cash-in then they should be looking at Celtic to see the sort of fee they should be demanding.
Barry Ferguson names price Rangers should demand for Nico Raskin
There is no denying that Raskin is a standout performer for Rangers.
In an ideal world Raskin is a player you would continue to build a team around, not sell.
But, the reality is that Rangers need to make these tough decisions and become significantly better at trading.
That being said, Ferguson thinks Rangers have to demand at least £15-20million for Raskin given Arne Engels is being linked with a £25m exit from Celtic.
Speaking on GO Radio, Ferguson said: "If you look at the squad, the glaring one is Nico Raskin. He had a really good World Cup for Belgium. Is he going to stay or going to go? You'd be looking at between £15-20million for Nico Raskin.
"You are not selling him for £10million. He's a Belgium international and I know he never started the first game but I thought he was probably Belgium's best player at the World Cup.
"He's worth at least that (£20million). If Arne Engels is going for more than £25million, come on. Nico is better than Arne Engels.
"I think Rangers have got a price in their head and if that is met (he'll go).
"It will be interesting to see if it actually does happen."
Where could Nicolas Raskin go?
There have been no shortage of suitors for Raskin's services.
His performances for Belgium at the World Cup only saw his stock rise further.
Earlier in the window, Premier League new boys Hull City were credited with an interest, while there has been rumours that Serie A duo Roma and Bologna have been eyeing him.
LaLiga duo Villarreal and Real Betis are also said to be monitoring Raskin, who clearly has a lot of admirers across Europe.
It looks an increasingly difficult task for Rangers to keep hold of Raskin, but they must capitalise on the interest by getting the best price possible if they do sell.
