Djeidi Gassama could still leave Rangers this summer.

The 22-year-old joined the Gers last summer and enjoyed a solid first campaign in Scotland.

He notched nine goals and five assists in 56 appearances for the Ibrox club.

There has been constant speculation over his future, and with the Bears in the market for wingers, it has emerged again.

Gassama has played five times under Derek McInnes this season, with one goal and one assist.

He may well be allowed to leave, if a specific scenario happens before the transfer deadline.

What has been said about Djeidi Gassama Rangers exit?

Gassama could be on the way out if McInnes signs two wingers in the coming days, with Girona star Kim Min-su on the verge of joining.

David Friel, the Scottish Sun's Sports Content Editor, believes that the Mauritanian could depart, if that happens.

Speaking on Go Ballistic on 25 August, he said: “I wouldn’t be surprised [if he leaves] if Rangers can sign two wingers.

“If Kim Min-Su comes in and Rangers get someone else, at that stage, Djeidi Gassama can probably be sacrificed…

“He’ll have a good reputation because he was a good player for Sheffield Wednesday, it wouldn’t surprise me if it becomes clear that he is available, that he would get a club down South.”

It raises an interesting question mark over the former Sheffield Wednesday ace, and his long-term future in Govan.

They are likely to be answered towards the end of the window.

How does McInnes feel about Gassama?

Gassama is under contract until 2028, after signing a four-year deal when he joined the Light Blues, so there is no immediate urge to sell.

He frustrated the boss with a terrible miss in the 1-0 win over Jablonec in the first leg of the Europa Conference League play-off clash, so his status could be under question.

Speaking after the contest, McInnes said: "Djeidi Gassama has got to score and make it two, that's a big moment."

Monaco could return after they had a bid rejected in the winter window, while he has also attracted interest from Villarreal and Club Brugge, as well as MLS clubs.

Friel was reaction to suggests that the winger could replace Sorba Thomas at Stoke City, but no concrete links have emerged right now to the Championship side.

Whether the G51 club would let him go, though, remains to be seen, but if the sign two wingers, it could make it more likely that he makes a move elsewhere.

They would not have as much need for Gassama and could take the potential opportunity to cash in for a big sum, on a player that has not hit the heights expected of him.
