What Rangers fans need to know as Djeidi Gassama exit stance emerges

Rangers forward Djeidi Gassama may be playing his final games at Ibrox after starting against West Ham United.

Derek McInnes opted to rely on the Mauritania international for the opening 45 minutes in the pre-season friendly on 26 July.

The 22-year-old winger drew some frustrating reactions from the Scottish manager in the 0-0 draw.

Gassama is attracting interest at Ibrox this summer as McInnes looks to bolster his wide areas.

The former Sheffield Wednesday ace joined the Glaswegian outfit last summer but endured a mixed debut season.

Ahead of the 2026-27 campaign, the forward's situation will be one to keep an eye on.

Gassama moved to the Gers for £2.2million, and after an impressive start, saw his form dip.

In 56 appearances for the Light Blues, the young winger scored nine goals and provided six assists, but the Ibrox hierarchy may now look to cash in on him.

According to the Rangers Review journalist Chris Jack, while other clubs are eyeing the attacker, there's nothing serious as things stand.

As for the forward, he has no intentions of leaving and wants to stay at the Glaswegian outfit.

Ibrox News have previously covered reports of Monaco's interest in Gassama in the winter transfer window.

Speaking on the Rangers Review on 26 July, Jack said, "We understand that there is a bit of interest in him this summer, but nothing has materialised as yet. He is keen to stay at Ibrox. That is one to keep an eye on as Rangers look to do some business in the wide areas."

Derek McInnes has already shown ruthless side at Ibrox

It wouldn't be surprising to see Rangers sell Gassama if McInnes doesn't fancy him.

Despite the lack of options on the wings, the Scottish manager has already set a ruthless precedent at Ibrox.

John Souttar has been allowed to look for a new club while the Gers struggle for options at the back.

If a good offer arrives for the ex-Sheffield Wednesday ace, Andrew Cavenagh may have every reason to sanction the exit and reinvest that money in a new forward like Mikey Moore.

Supporters have largely been left disappointed with Gassama and wouldn't be gutted to see him leave.
