Rangers are still looking to bring in further reinforcements for Derek McInnes during the transfer window.

Plenty of work has already been done this summer to boost the numbers in McInnes' ranks for his debut campaign at Ibrox.

Ivor Pandur has arrived as a new goalkeeper from Hull City with Jack Butland going the other way in a separate deal.

Utility man Ross McCrorie and the versatile Ben Godfrey have added reinforcement at centre-back, while Dan Neil and Cammy Devlin have boosted numbers in midfield.

Lawrence Shankland, like McInnes and Devlin, has been snared from Hearts and adds proven pedigree to Rangers forward ranks.

McInnes has another priority he wants to see solved, but Nico Raskin may hold the key to him getting his wish.

Why Rangers plans could hinge on Nico Raskin

Rangers' recruitment team has been working overtime to improve the squad after a disappointing third-place finish last term.

There has been plenty of good work done so far, but more arrivals are expected in the next couple of weeks.

Indeed, Andy Newport has reported for the Daily Record that McInnes would like a "difference-maker" to be signed in midfield.

Jens Hjerto-Dahl, Vanja Dragovejic, and Lewis Ferguson - who played for McInnes at Aberdeen - are all high on the priority list.

However, Newport says that further arrivals in midfield could depend on Raskin departing Ibrox this summer.

He added that chairman Andrew Cavenagh appears reluctant to sanction another signing in the midfield park due to the "bloated" options Rangers have at the minute.

What do we know about Nico Raskin's future?

Raskin is a top performer at Rangers and a favourite with the Ibrox crowd.

However, he only has two years remaining on his Rangers contract, and there is a sense that the Gers may look to cash in while they still have the chance.

Hull have been linked with a move for the 25-year-old following their promotion to the Premier League.

Bologna, coached by Raskin's former Belgium coach Domenico Tedesco, are also said to have been pondering a move.

It remains to be seen what will happen, but either way Rangers do appear a little overstocked in central midfield, so it stands to reason that Raskin being sold might be the key to McInnes getting his wish on this one.
