Derek McInnes 'desperate' as Daisuke Yokota red tape revealed at Rangers

Daisuke Yokota is on the verge of becoming a Rangers player.

Unfortunately, though, there is plenty more drama to come surrounding the Hannover 96 star ahead of his move to Ibrox.

Derek McInnes and Rangers are preparing for their Europa League qualifying journey, which starts in Poland against Jagiellonia on Thursday.

As they do that, a £2.75million-plus package has been agreed to sign Yokota in the coming days.

After clearing drama around Olwethu Makhanya's availability for Thursday, the same is starting with Yokota.

Before even being announced as a Rangers player, all eyes are on that Europa League showdown on 6 August.

Despite the transfer being all-but-done, there are still several hurdles to overcome.

The Daily Record has reported in its print edition on 5 August that personal terms need to be agreed, as well as VISA requirements and work permits for the game against Jagiellonia.

It's stated in the newspaper that McInnes will be "desperate to slice through the red tape" and have his ninth new signing available.

Glasgow South West MP, Dr. Zubir Ahmed, had to step in to help Makhanya secure his Polish visa, so it can be done at late notice.

How could Rangers line up vs Jagiellonia?

Changes are guaranteed in Poland, that's for sure.

Makhanya will start alongside Emmanuel Fernandez, given the injury picked up by Ben Godfrey in that disappointing 1-1 draw at Dundee United.

Then, the final third simply has to change.

McInnes was far from happy at Tannadice, and it's certain that Djeidi Gassama will drop out after his performance.

If Yokota isn't available and can't start, the pressure then falls onto Findlay Curtis' shoulders in Poland.

Thelo Aasgaard is currently the first name on the teamsheet at Ibrox, so the Norwegian will carry on in his new wider role.

There could be changes around the park, with the midfield and strike pairings simply not working either.

It is, of course, early days, but that could mean more changes from McInnes as he tries to find the magic formula at Ibrox.

Let's hope that Yokota is part of that immediately.
