Lewis Ferguson has hilariously been reacting to the constant speculation around a move to Rangers.

The Bologna midfielder admitted that the constant talk from his dad, Derek, certainly hasn't helped the matter.

Ferguson admits that he would love to sign for Rangers, his boyhood club, but it hasn't progressed past slight interest.

That's despite Derek stating earlier in the summer that he'd basically agreed personal terms at Ibrox.

It never happened, and he's back in Scotland for the extended international break.

Ferguson admitted that he watches the episodes and has to tell his dad off for saying too much when he can't stop talking.

The Ferguson and Rangers story will never end

Derek McInnes adds another layer to this story, given he loves the midfielder from their time at Aberdeen together.

Speaking on the latest episode of Open Goal, Ferguson was asked about his son's response and revealed all.

"I enjoy causing a bit of mischief," he said.

"Over the years, I've come on this show and I'm as honest as they come.

"In a strange way, I quite enjoy coming on and just outing everybody. He doesn't just text, he facetimes me.

"This is where, as you get older, you don't care."

Why Lewis Ferguson move looks further away now

There's no smoke without fire, and the speculation was around for a reason in the latest window.

But, Rangers were forced to look elsewhere.

Cammy Devlin, Dan Neil and Vanja Dragojevic all signed in central midfield, joining several current options.

Nicolas Raskin also stayed, with Tochi Chukwuani also in the squad.

So, where would Ferguson fit?

It would likely be a Rangers record transfer if it were to happen, given his success in Italy, so he'd start every week.

Next summer could be a better window, but it would take two, maybe even three of the names above to leaving.

It could also mean that Ferguson joins a Rangers team that have finally returned to the top table in Scotland.

After smashing Celtic twice in one week, the Bears are now favourites for the Premier Sports Cup and Scottish Premiership.

Should they win those two and make it a treble with the Scottish Cup, Ibrox is the place to be in Glasgow.

Ferguson signing would be the perfect present for McInnes if he achieves that, and the door certainly hasn't been shut on the possibility.
