Rangers are cracking on with their transfer business despite drama failing to leave Ibrox for weeks.

Starting the summer with Danny Rohl in charge, Andrew Cavenagh and the 49ers promised strong transfer backing.

That started with Hearts captain Lawrence Shankland, who signed for his boyhood club in a sensational free deal.

If Tynecastle wasn't happy with that, they were raging when Derek McInnes would be appointed new Rangers manager.

Rohl left Ibrox behind for RB Salzburg, but the decision makers in Govan already had their plan in place.

Now, they're already backing McInnes with several moves in the transfer market.

Who could Rangers sign next?

Despite Ben Godfrey signing from Atalanta, another defender could be on the radar.

Luke Graham of Dundee has been wanted for months now, and he could follow Ross McCrorie through the Ibrox doors.

The Daily Record reports that Portsmouth and Stoke are pushing hard to sign the standout defender, but that Rangers are still watching closely.

Rohl was said to have made a real push to sign Graham, who is currently away in Hungary for pre-season training.

Any offers would need to be at £2million to put a transfer in motion, and nobody has quite hit those heights yet.

What were Danny Rohl's transfer goals at Rangers?

It feels like a lifetime ago already, but Rohl was still actually in charge when Shankland signed.

The German admitted that he was delighted with the striker's signing, admitting his prior knowledge of what's expected at Ibrox will be a huge asset.

It goes hand-in-hand with the transfer goal of adding more homegrown talent to the squad, those who know what it means to play for Rangers.

That is where Graham comes into play, with his rise through the ranks to the top of Scottish Premiership likely admired by those in blue.

But, this is where his career hits a crossroads.

Does Graham go down south to play in the Championship with either of two sides that are unlikely to reach the Premier League anytime, or does he fight for a spot at Ibrox?

The standout defender will simply want to play, and that may be more likely under McInnes than it was with Rohl.

Rohl may have started this interest with those above him at Ibrox, but it could be McInnes who gets it over the line.
