Bold Nicolas Raskin Rangers exit claim emerges, Celtic have set benchmark
Nicolas Raskin could be facing the exit door at Rangers this summer.
The midfielder is currently away with Belgium at the World Cup and has certainly impressed.
He has started three times at the summer tournament and is yet to taste defeat in North America.
His most recent outing came in the 4-1 win against host nation USA as he featured across 89 minutes.
The 25-year-old had a telling impact for the Red Devils in helping them book their place in the quarter-finals.
That doesn't look likely to end in ideal fashion for Rangers as Andy Halliday believes the World Cup will end with Raskin leaving Ibrox.
How Celtic have helped Rangers as Nico Raskin sale looms
The number 43 has been strongly linked with a Govan exit throughout the recent windows in G51.
Moves across Europe have been mooted at different times, with interest also emerging in the Premier League previously.
A move has never gone through and he has remained a useful asset for the Light Blues, under everyone other than Russell Martin.
That could be set to change this summer as his World Cup performances could spark a departure.
That is the feeling of ex-Rangers man Halliday, who believes Celtic's demand for Arne Engels could see the Gers up their asking price.
Speaking on the Open Goal podcast on Wednesday, he said: "He’s played his last game for Rangers. I think he would’ve left anyway, but after a good World Cup he’ll have better options than before.
"[He'll cost] North of £15million. I think Raskin’s a better player than Engels. Nottingham Forest bid £25m for Engels. I don’t think Rangers would get £25m for Raskin, but you’re trying to push it as much as you possibly can."
Where would Raskin sit in record sales at Rangers?
There is a general feeling that the midfielder will finally be on his way out of Govan in this window.
It has felt like an inevitability and that has only been boosted by his showings at the World Cup.
That will come as a blow to the Light Blues, but they could be set to land a record fee for his exit.
Should Raskin depart for around £20m, he would become the biggest sale ever seen at Ibrox.
Kalvin Bassey joined Ajax in 2022 for £19.6m and is the current record holder in G51.
Nathan Patterson sits second at £12m, while Alan Hutton's move to Tottenham came in at £9m.
Raskin could be set to top that list by the time this summer window ends should he seal a move away for upwards of £20m.
