Andrew Cavenagh's role in Rangers signing Couhaib Driouech revealed

Andrew Cavenagh has played a part in Rangers' attempts to sign PSV ace Couhaib Driouech.

The part-owner has wielded his influence to try and help the Gers to bring in new faces this summer.

Derek McInnes is keen to add another winger after securing the signing of Daisuke Yokota.

The Japanese star was their ninth addition, but the manager is not satisfied just yet.

He still feels that he needs a new presence on the flanks, to provide the creativity that was sorely lacking in the 1-1 draw against Dundee United.

Driouech is next on their agenda, and it looks like a move is accelerating quickly for the Moroccan.

Rangers are wasting no time sorting out the issues that their new boss is facing.

The Daily Record's print edition claimed on Thursday that it is anticipated that the Ibrox side will meet the Dutch side's multi-million pound valuation.

It states that they are racing to beat former boss Danny Rohl's Red Bull Salzburg to a deal for the 24-year-old, who has been given the green light to leave the Philips Stadion.

It featured quotes from McInnes, who opened up about Cavenagh's role, saying: "The owner, Andrew Cavenagh, has been really supportive."

A further report from The Scottish Sun claimed that the G51 outfit are set to up the ante, by actually tabling that £6m offer.

What's next for Rangers if they sign Driouech?

The question on supporters minds will be what comes after signing Driouech if that deal materialises.

The reality is, likely just some fine-tuning to make sure that the squad is ready to compete for the Scottish Premiership title.

The focus may well be on sales, pushing players who do not have a future under McInnes out of the door and recouping some funds.

Nedim Bajrami has already moved on to Al Taawoun, initially on loan, but reportedly with a buy option

Ross McCausland and John Souttar are out of favour, and are expected to follow the Albanian out of the club before the end of the window.

The former is attracting interest from the likes of Luton Town and Casa Pia, while the latter has West Ham, Leicester and Swansea among his suitors.

They will surely get their moves away before the deadline strikes.
