All 30 Rangers transfers struck under Dan Purdy rated after exit update

Dan Purdy played a role in Rangers signing 30 players during his tenure as recruitment chief.

The technical director followed Kevin Thelwell to Ibrox from Everton, and he lasted a lot longer than his colleague.

The former departed in November 2025, but Purdy remained to lead the recently closed summer window.

It was widely reported on Friday that Purdy will step down from his role with the Bears after 15 months.

A report from Andy Newport claimed that the G51 side tried to convince him to stay.

Rangers had a truly dreadful summer 2025 transfer window

Russell Martin's appointment as manager probably should have highlighted the the 2025 summer window was going to be dismal.

What followed was a poor approach, with several loan players brought in that ultimately never worked out.

Max Aarons, Nasser Djiga, Jayden Meghoma, Derek Cornelius and Mikey Moore were brought in, with the latter the only one that stood out.

Joe Rothwell was a terrible signing, playing just 20 matches for the Gers before he was shipped out.

Thelo Aasgaard and Oliver Antman have also moved on, the former on loan with an obligation to buy, and the latter permanently for a figure of £4.5million.

Bojan Miovski has not hit the heights expected, although he did hit the winner against St Mirren last time out.

Djeidi Gassama, Youssef Chermiti and Emmanuel Fernandez are the only real successes from that window, and even they were not able to take the Bears towards the title.

Overall, that window has to be given a rating of four out of 10.

January 2026 brings hope for Rangers

With Martin out the door, and Danny Rohl in, the G51 side started to bring in players for the German boss.

Tochi Chukwuani, Tuur Rommens and Ryan Naderi arrived permanently, with Andreas Skov Olsen coming in on loan.

Only Rommens has become a regular in the senior side, so that window that brought hope can't really be classed as a success.

It brought solid squad players in, though, so it should be given a rating of five.

McInnes backed heavily in summer 2026 - will it pay off?

Derek McInnes was installed after Rohl's departure to RB Salzburg, and he has been backed significantly.

Dan Neil, Lawrence Shankland and Cammy Devlin arrived on free transfers, all very experienced players, and the latter duo have played under McInnes before.

James Penrice and Ben Godfrey arrived on loan - two more solid additions to the squad.

Ivor Pandur, Ross McCrorie, Vanja Dragojevic, Olwethu Makhanya and Daisuke Yokota arrived on permanent deals.

Kosta Nedeljkovic also came in on loan with an obligation to make it permanent should conditions be met.

This window was a lot more encouraging, and has the potential to be very good, but now it is a rating of seven.

Too soon to judge on these Rangers stars

Badredine Bouanani, Kevin Kelsy and Minsu Kim are the most recent additions.

The former duo were brought in on deadline day, so have only had eight days to make their mark.

Meanwhile, the South Korean has played just four times for the Gers, so it is also too soon to judge him.

Given the fees spent on the three, a total of £18m, with the potential for Bouanani to cost £15.5m if his buy clause is activated, they need to come good.
