Rangers appear to have found Danny Rohl's replacement in no time at all, with a deal agreed for Derek McInnes to take over at Ibrox.

The Gers had to rip up their plans over the weekend, after planning around Rohl since the end of the season.

Lawrence Shankland's transfer was confirmed before the World Cup, while the German is said to have been given considerable control over incomings.

Instead, the former Sheffield Wednesday boss is now set for an imminent exit, ahead of a switch to Austrian heavyweights RB Salzburg.

Moving swiftly, Rangers have looked to ensure that no time is wasted ahead of a huge summer transfer window.

And in a matter of days, the Govan side seem to have landed their man.

Andrew Cavenagh location revealed as deal completed for Derek McInnes

McInnes came within touching distance of lifting the title with Hearts last month, before the Jambos were brutally pipped by Celtic on the final day.

Nonetheless, it was a fantastic season at Tynecastle, with Hearts leading the way for most of the term and remaining unflappable for long periods.

Now, McInnes could be set to follow in the footsteps of captain Shankland, who was announced as a Rangers player before travelling to the World Cup.

As revealed by Sky Sports, Rangers chief Andrew Cavenagh was in attendance as Scotland beat Haiti on Saturday, with McInnes also there, alongside Hearts chief executive Andrew McKinlay.

With the news of Rohl's departure only coming to light a matter of days ago, the Gers have worked tirelessly to ensure their preparations are not significantly impacted, with McInnes now set to take over pre-season, signing a three-year deal.

Rangers deserve full praise for managerial search

Given the circumstances, Rangers deserve every bit of praise for the way in which they have gone about the recent developments.

Arriving at Ibrox last October, Rohl was able to turn fortunes around after the dismal spell of Russell Martin.

Ultimately, his side crumbled at the final hurdle, though he had done enough to gain the trust of the hierarchy to lead the club into the new season.

Then in a matter of days, the plans have completely changed, leaving Rangers in search of a new manager at such a critical period.

In the meantime, the Gers have been able to get a deal done for McInnes, and they deserve every bit of praise for just how quickly this was solved.

This scenario carried the potential to drag on, but instead, Rangers have acted diligently and swiftly, avoiding any real mishaps before the start of pre-season.
